The first installment of 'Blood in the Water' is now online! (A nod to *grandson* for the inspiration.)


Addiction. Gangs. Police overreach. Drugs. Prosecutorial misconduct. A 'shadow' justice system that is little understood by the public, but which shapes the lives of millions. Crime in America today bears little resemblance to popular fiction. Shadowy international conspiracies, plucky profilers single-handedly taking on serial killers, hardboiled private eyes heroically rescuing the kidnapped daughters of millionaires… fun reads, maybe, but they aren’t the real world. 

 

And the real world…that's where the stories are.

 

The stories that people can relate to. The characters that people can identify with. The situations that readers can picture themselves falling into, if that one wrong turn was made, that chance encounter not avoided, that single poor choice given a foothold. 

Four years in federal prison provided former journalist and PR exec Max Robbins with plenty of time to craft crime fiction tales inspired by real-life cops and robbers. The drug dealers, the dirty cops, the scammers, the gangsters--the *real people* that populate today's criminal underworld--theirs are the lives that, along with his own, make up the rich vein of stories that this author mines in his writing. His experiences are not unique, but they helped build a unique perspective on American crime, and a powerful new voice in crime fiction.

The Myth of the Hero Cop (and Prosecutor)
